About Mere Bookkeeping

The pastor at my small church ($120,000 budget) asked me to be the treasurer in 2022. The software I looked at was overkill for our needs. The spreadsheet templates I looked at seemed...lacking. So, I dusted off my accounting degree and created my own.

I use Excel daily and have taught Excel at the college level. This seemed like a fun challenge and a creative outlet for me to enjoy and sharpen my existing skills.

"Mere Bookkeeping" is a nod to Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis, and a reminder that bookkeeping doesn’t have to be daunting or time-consuming with the right tools.

About 1,000 people requested Mere Bookkeeping templates in the first two years, which was a lot more than expected given my marketing budget of zero dollars. 😎

• I don’t want this to become a job. I already have one of those! This is a hobby for me.
